Part 1: Driving with a Disability

Are there any laws or regulations in your country that restrict whether people with disabilities can obtain a driving licence?

People with disabilities, as all other persons applying for a driving license, must pass a medical test and a medical commission decides weather the applicant is medically able to drive a car. The medical commission also decides weather people with disabilities must wear a special device or a special adaptation of the vehicle is required, and also decides on the mode of arrangement of the vehicle.

Are there any restrictions on the type of vehicle or adaptation to controls that can be driven by a person with a disability?

Adaptation must allow to drive safely

If you have answered yes to Question 4 above, do the same restrictions apply to a person with a disability visiting your country in their own or a rented vehicle? Please give details

Adaptations must allow to drive safely. The driving license must mention all the adaptations and mode arrangements needed to drive (e.g. on European driving licenses codes are provided) and disabled people are only allowed to drive vehicles with such adaptations or arrangements.

Please give details of the section responsible in your Ministry for driver licensing and vehicle adaptations for people with disabilities. Please also include any websites which give details of the official national policy.
