Are there any restrictions on the type of vehicle or adaptation to controls that can be driven by a person with a disability?

Yes, depending on the grade of the disability and according to the national and international EEA legal framework there can be restrictions on the type of vehicles or the technical set up of the adaptions to control. The exact restriction on the type of vehicle is noted in the vehicle registration/license form.

In general yes, especially from drivers who are residents of EEA states. Concerning rental cars additionally the rules of the company may apply. Generally the technical restrictions noted in the driving licence must be provided by the company and the rented car has to be technically equipped accordingly.
